Job summary

Vivo Talent is recruiting an experienced Cost Engineer for a precision engineering manufacturer in Gloucestershire/Tewkesbury. You will build accurate cost models for complex machined components and influence quotation strategies.

Working with Engineering, Operations and Commercial teams, you’ll develop manufacturing routes, estimate cycle times for CNC milling and turning, and identify cost-reduction opportunities to keep quotations competitive and profitable.

Qualifications

• Experience in cost engineering, estimating or manufacturing engineering.
• Strong CNC milling and turning knowledge.
• Ability to read drawings and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Costing precision machined components from drawings and CAD models.

I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Cost Engineer to join a growing precision engineering manufacturer based in Tewkesbury.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in CNC machining, process planning, manufacturing engineering, and component costing who enjoys combining technical expertise with commercial decision-making. You’ll play a key role in supporting the business’s quotation and manufacturing strategy by developing accurate cost models for complex machined components. Working closely with Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams, you’ll be responsible for analysing customer requirements, defining manufacturing routes, estimating machining times, and ensuring quotations are both competitive and profitable.

Key Responsibilities

• Costing precision machined components from customer drawings and CAD models
• Developing manufacturing routes and process plans
• Estimating CNC milling and CNC turning cycle times
• Costing raw materials, tooling, fixtures and subcontract processes
• Supporting quotation and bid activities
• Identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
• Reviewing designs for manufacturability (DFM)
• Working closely with production and supply chain teams to validate costs and lead times

What We’re Looking For

• Experience within a Cost Engineering, Estimating, Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering role
• Strong understanding of CNC milling and turning operations
• Experience costing complex machined components
• Knowledge of engineering materials including aluminium, stainless steel, titanium and exotic alloys
• Understanding of heat treatment and finishing processes
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Commercial awareness and strong analytical skills
• Experience within aerospace, defence, medical or precision engineering environments would be highly advantageous
