Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is sourcing a Cost Controller for an Oil & Gas operator on a part-time basis in Aberdeen, with a start date asap. The role is 2.5–3 days per week, based in Kingswells, for an initial 12-month PAYE contract.

You will lead cost control delivery, mentor the team, and drive monthly cost reviews with budget holders. You will collate information for grant claims and ensure compliance with DESNZ requirements and company policies. Familiarity with Upstream E&P and SAP is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified and/or appropriate experience in cost control.
• Experience in oil & gas cost control or cost engineering.
• Strong knowledge of SAP and MS Office.
• Ability to work in a part-time pattern with flexibility.

Our Oil & Gas Operator client is currently recruiting for the position of Cost Controller on a PART-TIME based in Aberdeen. Start date – asap. Work Pattern – 2.5 – 3 days per week (flexibility around working days). Duration – Initial 12-month PAYE contract. Location – Kingswells.

What are we looking for:

We are seeking candidates who have a background in oil & gas cost control/cost engineering and specifically seeking part‑time hours to work around a lifestyle commitment. You will have several years working in a cost role either in a Tier 1 or Operator and have used SAP. Commutable distance of Kingswells.

Purpose of Role:

Lead the delivery of cost control services for Viking CCS while providing senior leadership, mentoring, and support to cost controller(s) within team. Ensure the required information is collated, validated and reviewed through engagement with the wider company finance function, so that grant claims submitted under the Viking Grant Funding Agreement meet the required level of definition and supporting evidence, enabling successful claim approval and payment. Follow company policies, procedures and contractual agreements.

Critical Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and company HSES Procedures.

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with company’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

• Delivery of Cost Control Services from self and team member
• Lead the delivery of cost control services for Viking CCS
• Drive monthly cost reviews with incumbent budget holders
• Co-ordinates and delivers monthly/ quarterly project information for senior management/ QBR reviews etc
• Provide senior leadership, mentoring, and support to other cost controller(s) within the team.
• Collate required information to ensure grant claims are approved and paid by DESNZ.
• Ensure project cost and schedule alignment
• Provide cost data required for Government, negotiations, financing or commercial
• Provide back-up for Cost Controller
• Provide ad-hoc cost analysis and management presentations as required
• Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your manager.

Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:

• Degree qualified and/or appropriate experience and qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and support finance or cost control teams
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality work by deadlines and work effectively under time pressure
• Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative, proactively drive change, take responsibility and deliver all cost control tasks through to completion
• Understanding of Upstream E&P industry requirements
• Understanding of Government grant claims beneficial
• Strong understanding and experience within project cost control essential
• Strong understanding of cost management and financial systems i.e. SAP.
• Strong understanding of contracts/procurement working with multiple contractors.
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong MS Office skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and adept at interacting with individuals at all levels in the CCS BU, the wider organisation and key stakeholders such as Government or financing institutions
