Job Description

NEW GROUND WON’T BREAK ITSELF.

Every day, our teams help businesses and communities do what is right and achieve their goals.

Our Glasgow corporate tax team is seeking an Assistant Manager to join our expanding team. You will support the growth of our tax practice across the central belt, focusing on the mid-market and OMBs. We offer excellent opportunities to develop your portfolio, build strong client and internal relationships, and contribute to domestic and cross-border tax projects.

We assist clients in navigating complex tax landscapes with tailored solutions to manage current risks and anticipate future changes.

We support flexible working arrangements, including reduced hours and job sharing, to help you balance work and life.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Manager in our private capital corporate tax team, you will:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, including owner-managed businesses, private equity-backed, and large groups, advising on their corporation tax matters. This includes annual compliance, specialist claims, and tax advisory projects such as project financing and transactions.
  • Supervise and review work by junior staff, reporting directly to Partners and Directors.
  • Deliver corporate tax compliance, oversee tax audits, and provide tax advisory services. You will be the main point of contact for your clients, liaising with audit teams and other departments, and supporting junior staff development. You will also seek new business opportunities and participate in pitches and proposals.
  • Organize the delivery of tax work, solve problems proactively, and build your internal and external network, enhancing your communication skills and client understanding. You should be commercially minded with a clear grasp of client needs.
Candidate Profile

We are looking for ambitious, driven individuals who can adapt to changing markets and work at pace. The minimum requirements include:

  • Qualified (CA, ATT, CTA) with experience in corporate tax.
  • Strong knowledge of UK corporation tax legislation and international tax concepts.
  • Experience supervising staff and reviewing work in a tax environment.
  • Experience managing compliance portfolios and tax accounting or audits.
  • Excellent communication skills and flexibility to meet deadlines.
