For an experienced practice accountant, the opportunity to take ownership of a varied client portfolio, work closely with business owners and play an important role in developing a team can be a particularly rewarding next step.

Trial Balance are delighted to be working with a successful accountancy practice in Exeter, looking to recruit an experienced Corporate Services Manager to join its team. This is a broad and client-focused position offering responsibility across accounts, taxation and business advisory work, alongside the opportunity to support junior colleagues and contribute to the continued development of the practice.

You'll work with a diverse portfolio of businesses and organisations, building strong relationships with clients and providing practical advice across their on-going accounting and taxation requirements.

As Corporate Services Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Planning, preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and charities
• Liaising directly with clients to resolve accounting queries, discuss financial information and finalise statutory accounts
• Preparing and reviewing management accounts, providing meaningful commentary and insight where required
• Conducting client meetings, both virtually and face-to-face, to discuss financial performance and wider business requirements
• Advising clients on tax planning opportunities, including personal tax and dividend planning
• Managing client correspondence and maintaining regular communication to ensure a consistently high level of service
• Mentoring and developing junior colleagues, supporting their technical development and professional progression

The successful Corporate Services Manager will:

Be fully ACA or ACCA qualified, with significant experience gained within an accountancy practice and, ideally, previous experience operating at Manager level.

You’ll have strong technical knowledge across accounts preparation, taxation and financial reporting, together with the confidence to manage a varied client portfolio independently.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as this is a heavily client-facing position requiring the ability to build lasting relationships and provide practical, commercially minded advice. You’ll also be comfortable reviewing work, supporting the development of junior colleagues and managing your own workload effectively.
