About NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde: NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

This is an exciting time for NHSGGC as we implement our new ‘Transforming Together’ strategy to support Health & Social Care Reform. The Corporate Planning Team has a rare opportunity for a motivated individual with strategic or operational planning experience to work closely with the deputy director of planning in leading a corporate planning portfolio.

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds with proven experience in planning or strategy, whether from the public sector or consultancy. Healthcare/NHS experience is a plus but not essential. Candidates may already be in operational/managerial roles or seeking to advance into a planning position.

Main duties of the job:

You will contribute to NHSGGC's strategic direction by providing leadership in corporate planning and strategy delivery. Your role includes developing planning frameworks with embedded governance principles, leading and supporting:

  • The development and production of the Annual Delivery Plan for the Board
  • The Winter Operational Planning process and development of the Winter plan
  • Pan GGC projects, including bed modelling and demand and capacity modelling for services
  • Leading specific pan GGC and whole-system projects as directed by the Director and Deputy Director of Planning, and supporting the establishment of the new Interface Care Division

You will also lead and develop the Planning Officer team and oversee planning support for the Realistic Medicine Project. This role requires independent working across the organization, collaborating with leaders and teams to support and deliver Board strategies and work programmes.

This is a unique opportunity to develop your career within a dynamic department supporting NHSGGC’s ambitious transformation agenda.
