We are looking for an experienced Planning Manager to join our team, playing a key role in securing planning consents and managing the planning process across our developments.

About the Role

As a Planning Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the planning process to secure viable planning permissions for Alderley Group’s development pipeline. You will work closely with internal teams, local authorities, and external consultants to ensure planning applications align with policy requirements, are well-prepared, and successfully delivered.

Your role will be integral in supporting land acquisitions, optimising site layouts, and navigating the complex planning landscape to ensure the successful progression of projects from feasibility to approval.

Key Responsibilities

Planning Strategy & Applications

  • Manage and coordinate planning applications for residential and mixed-use developments, ensuring timely submissions.
  • Provide planning advice to internal teams to support land acquisitions and development opportunities.
  • Work with external planning consultants, architects, and technical teams to prepare high-quality planning submissions.
  • Monitor and interpret local and national planning policies, advising on their impact on Alderley’s projects.

Stakeholder & Local Authority Engagement

  • Liaise with local authorities, planning officers, and stakeholders to negotiate planning permissions and resolve policy challenges.
  • Represent Alderley Group in planning meetings, public consultations, and community engagement events.
  • Manage and negotiate planning obligations, including Section 106 agreements and CIL contributions.
  • Work closely with Land, Development, and Technical teams to assess planning risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with planning policies, regulations, and environmental considerations.
  • Manage appeals and planning inquiries, supporting the business in achieving successful outcomes.
  • Oversee the preparation of reports, feasibility studies, and planning documents to inform decision-making.

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in planning management, ideally within residential development.
  • RTPI membership (or working towards it).
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning law, policy frameworks, and local authority processes.
  • Experience in managing major planning applications and securing consents.
  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
