We're looking for a creative and enthusiastic Corporate Communications Assistant to join our friendly Corporate Affairs team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all areas of communications—from creating engaging content and managing digital channels to supporting employee engagement, media relations, and public affairs. You'll also be involved in brand and design projects, helping to bring our stories to life. If you're organized, curious, and eager to learn, this role is your perfect step into the world of corporate communications.

About the team:

The Corporate Affairs team is central to how we tell the stories of Laing O'Rourke—our projects, people, and innovations. We manage the company's digital strategy and communication channels, shaping and protecting our brand and reputation. Our work spans internal communications, media relations, public affairs, and digital content, ensuring our messages reach the right audiences. As part of an international construction and engineering leader, we're a creative, fast-paced team that plays a key role in how the world perceives Laing O'Rourke.

Responsibilities:

  • Create content for news stories, social media, and digital platforms, including articles and videos.
  • Edit and maintain Laing O'Rourke's websites and digital channels, supporting backend management.
  • Monitor and measure digital channels and social media performance using tools like GA4.
  • Assist with events such as staff briefings, project milestones, and media tours.
  • Support the press office by monitoring media, managing subscriptions, and handling the press inbox.
  • Perform simple editing of photography and videos, and support the upkeep of Laing O'Rourke's image and video libraries.

Key Skills:

  • Basic video and photography skills (training provided).
  • Interest in developing a career in digital communication, public relations, internal communications, or corporate communications.
  • Ability to work positively under pressure, recognizing priorities and responding to deadlines.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, content management systems (SharePoint and Umbraco—training provided), and social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook). Knowledge of GA4 is advantageous.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or equivalent qualification.
  • GCSE in English (A*-C) or equivalent is essential.

We welcome candidates with transferable skills and a commitment to learning, even if they do not meet all criteria.
