Job summary

Canterbury City Council is seeking a Corporate Case Services Officer (HR) on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract. You will provide HR administration across the employee lifecycle and support colleagues with a responsive, efficient, and professional service.

The role includes handling HR enquiries, producing employment documentation, and contributing to data analysis and reporting to drive continuous improvement. Hybrid working and a generous benefits package are included.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of data protection legislation and of employment legislation as relevant to HR administration processes.
  • Experience in HR administration or HR support.
  • Experience handling a variety of customer enquiries and managing challenging situations professionally.
  • Knowledge of HR data processing and reporting using HRIS and other software.

Are you an organised and customer-focused HR professional who enjoys making a difference behind the scenes? We're looking for a Corporate Case Services Officer (Human Resources) to join our Corporate Case Services team on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract.

About this HR role

As a Corporate Case Services Officer, you'll provide HR administration and frontline support across all stages of the employee lifecycle. Working closely with HR colleagues, managers, payroll, and external partners, you'll help ensure a responsive, efficient, and professional service for our customers.

Here's what you'll get up to:
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, contract administration, employment changes, and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Managing HR enquiries by phone and email, providing accurate advice and guidance on recruitment, pay, terms and conditions, policies, and procedures.
  • Producing contracts, formal employment documentation, and workforce information with a high level of accuracy.
  • Working closely with managers, payroll, IT, Occupational Health, and HR specialists to resolve queries and maintain efficient processes.
  • Monitoring and validating recruitment and employee information to ensure compliance with legislative and council requirements.
  • Supporting our learning and development offer including meeting trainers face to face in our offices
  • Analysing HR data and producing reports and KPI information to support service performance and continuous improvement.

About you, the ideal HR professional for the job
Your knowledge (essential)
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation and of employment legislation as relevant to the HR administration processes
  • Knowledge of HR administration processes and documentation
  • Knowledge of the management, processing and analysis of HR data within an HR Information System and outside of the system through the use of third party software (eg MS Excel).
  • Working knowledge of the range of employment policies and contractual documents required by the employer.
Your experience
  • Experience working within an HR administration or HR support environment.
  • Experience dealing with a variety of customer enquiries and managing challenging situations professionally.
  • Experience working with employment legislation, policies, and contractual documentation.
Your skills and qualifications
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt your approach to different audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills, including data analysis and the use of Excel formulas and pivot tables.
