Prospero Teaching is seeking Core Subjects Tutors in the Bishop Auckland area to support children and young people on a 1-1 or small group basis. Sessions occur face to face in a community setting, school/alternative provision, or at the student’s home, with ongoing access to resources and CPD.

Ideal candidates will have experience in Maths, English and Science tutoring, a patient and flexible approach, and be able to work up to 15 hours per week per student starting October 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Maths, English and Science at entry level 3 to Level 2.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and enhanced DBS in place or willing to obtain DBS.
• Be able to reference the last two years of education or employment.

Responsabilités

• Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition across Maths, English and Science.
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans addressing learning gaps.
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to students and families.
• Create a supportive environment to rebuild confidence in learning.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

Core Subjects Tutor - Bishop Auckland

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools throughout the UK.

We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group Core Subjects Tutors who have experience in delivering Maths, English & Science in Bishop Auckland across Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.

The Opportunity

We are looking for Core Subjects Tutors in the Bishop Auckland area to support children and young people on a 1-1 or small group basis who are not currently accessing full time education for various reasons.

Many of our young people have not attended school for some time and may have emotional barriers to learning. As a result, we are seeking nurturing Tutors with a patient, flexible approach and a passion for working closely with students to overcome barriers to learning.

Sessions will take place face to face either in a community setting, School/Alternative Provision or at the young person's home.

Position Details:

• Pay rate up to 30 per hour depending on qualification and/or experience
• Up to 15 hours per week per student
• Start date: October 2026
• Location: Bishop Auckland
• Duration: ongoing
• Access to our Resource Hub, which includes learning materials
• Access to CPD accredited courses and training

Your role with us:

• Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition across core subjects - Maths, English and Science

• Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning.

To be eligible for this role, the potential Core Subjects Tutors must:

• Previous experience with teaching core subjects
• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
