Job summary

Historic England invites applications for a part-time Copyright Project Officer (Creative Content Exchange) in Swindon. The role supports the CCE pilot, reviewing archive collections for inclusion and producing clear, evidence-based copyright assessments and risk analyses.

You will work with the Project Manager, legal, digital teams and external partners to maximise accessibility while ensuring compliance with legal and organisational requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience of copyright, intellectual property rights and rights management in an archive, library, heritage or similar environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with evidence-based recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist archive expertise to support the Creative Content Exchange pilot project.
• Review archive collections for suitability and determine conditions and risk for inclusion.
• Undertake rights research, provenance investigation and copyright assessment.
• Document decisions clearly and support risk-managed access and reuse, enhancing accessibility and compliance.
