Job summary

Delta Wellbeing Ltd is looking for a Cook in Charge to join our catering team serving pupils and staff. The role is part-time/term-time oriented, with 32 hours 30 minutes per week and an annualised pay scheme to cover 52 weeks.

You will lead kitchen operations, prepare nutritious meals, ensure hygiene standards, and manage stock. A food hygiene certificate is preferred and Welsh language ability is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience running a kitchen and preparing nutritious meals for pupils and staff.
  • Ability to maintain high hygiene standards in kitchens.
  • Capability to cater for varied dietary requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and leadership to manage a team.
  • Basic IT skills for ordering and stock management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead kitchen operations and the preparation/serving of meals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and comply with hygiene standards.
  • Provide meals that meet dietary needs and preferences.
  • Order and manage stock and supplies; monitor inventory.
  • Support with other duties as required in a busy catering environment.

Hourly Rate : £14.23 - £15.92

If you are passionate about cooking and have a good work ethic, we would love to hear from you because our busy team requires a Cook in Charge.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of food preparation and service, ensure that cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained and provide excellent customer service to our pupils and staff.

This post is for 32 hours and 30 minutes per week / 6 hours 30 minutes per day. Hourly rate is £14.23-15.92

Working hours are Monday to Tuesday term time only (38 weeks), ideal to fit around family commitments and other roles we offer. We offer an 'annualised' pay scheme so that our staff who work term time receive pay over 52 weeks. The Candidate - We need a motivated and dedicated person who has:

  • The ability to run an efficient kitchen to include the preparation and serving of nutritious and appetising meals.
  • Experience in maintaining hygiene standards in kitchens.
  • The ability to provide varied meals for a range of special diets.
  • The ability to build good relationships with adults and children based on mutual respect.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to lead a team.
  • Basic IT skills and the ability to complete all required paperwork when running an efficient kitchen to include the ordering and management of stock.

You will need:

  • A positive attitude and the willingness to learn new skills.
  • A food hygiene certificate and previous experience in a catering or hospitality role. This would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Flexibility and the willingness to assist with other duties.
