Job summary

Cook 1 at Rephad Primary School in Dumfries and Galloway is a fixed-term post for 12 months, with 19.5 hours per week across 38 weeks per year. The role begins at an hourly rate with training provided, including Basic Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness.

PVG scheme checks apply for employment. The successful candidate will perform light food prep, serve meals, set up dining areas, handle cash when needed, and carry out electronic paperwork while maintaining kitchen cleanliness and safety for

You will be required to work 19.5 hours per week, 38 Weeks per year.

Maternity Cover, fixed term contract for 12 months

This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.

We're looking for a positive, hands on Cook 1 (General Assistant) to help fuel our pupils with fresh, tasty meals every day. You must be an energetic and enthusiastic person that will carry out the following tasks:

• Light food preparation including baking / cooker tops
• Serve meals

• Setting up service area
• Cash handling as and when required
• Dishwashing and General kitchen duties
• Clearing down and cleaning kitchens and staff rest areas
• Carry out electronic paperwork

Requirements

Experience is not necessary as full training will be given if required.

You will also be given Basic Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness training.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
