Job summary

Annan Academy in Dumfries and Galloway is seeking a Cook 1 (General Assistant) to join the school kitchen. The role is part-time, working 13.75 hours per week for 38 weeks per year, Monday to Friday from 11:15am to 2:00pm. The starting hourly rate is £13.74.

No prior experience is required as full training will be provided, including Basic Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness. A PVG scheme check will be required prior to formal offer by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

• Serve meals and clear dining area.

We're looking for a positive, hands on Cook 1 (General Assistant) to help fuel our pupils with fresh, tasty meals every day. If you enjoy supporting your local community, thrive in a busy and engaging environment, and want a role that makes a real difference to you and the children in our school, we'd love to hear from you. You must be an energetic and enthusiastic person that will carry out the following tasks:

• Light food preparation including baking / cooker tops
• Serve meals
• Setting up and decanting of dining room
• Setting up service area
• Cash handling as and when required
• Dishwashing and General kitchen duties
• Clearing down and cleaning kitchens and staff rest areas
• Carry out electronic paperwork

Experience is not necessary as full training will be given if required.

You will also be given Basic Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness training.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
