Job summary

Borough Care in Stockport is seeking an experienced Care Home Cook to provide high-quality meals and a warm dining experience for residents. You will prepare and serve meals, including light breakfasts and soups, and support carers during meals.

The role offers permanent, full-time hours with a competitive hourly rate (£14.43 per hour). Benefits include meals, uniform, pension, training and career progression, in a not-for-profit setting.

About the role

At Borough Care, we believe every day is a chance to brighten someone’s life. As a Care Home Cook, you’ll play a vital stand-alone role in our care home – not just preparing meals but creating a warm and enjoyable dining experience for our residents.

You will prepare and serve meals to meet our residents’ specific needs and deliver a high quality service. Our main and light meals are supplied as frozen ready prepared meals which require reheating, garnishing and presenting well. You will also provide light breakfasts, freshly made soups and sandwiches and will have the opportunity to use your creativity when catering for our events and residents’ birthdays.

You will also maintain stock control and support our carers at meal-times by assisting residents who cannot eat independently.
