Job description

Job Title: Cook at Speedwell Court

Speedwell Court is a beautiful, purpose-built home providing high-quality residential and Dementia care to its elderly residents. Our staff are dedicated to promoting the health, wellbeing, and happiness of our residents through engaging activities, nutritious meals, and compassionate care.

Position Details:

The role of Cook is based on a 32-hour weekly contract, including alternate weekend shifts. Shifts are scheduled over 3/7 days, between the hours of [insert hours].

The Role of a Cook:
  • Develop, in consultation with residents, healthy, balanced menus that cater to their needs and preferences.
  • Plan, prepare, and cook meals according to the agreed menus, considering personal preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Seek regular feedback from residents to monitor satisfaction with the food quality and menu options.
  • Collaborate with the Catering Manager and team to deliver nutritious, delicious meals.
  • Maintain effective stock rotation and control to manage catering costs within the budget.
  • Oversee the safe and proper use of catering equipment.
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and hygiene by following cleaning procedures and schedules, and complete all relevant food safety records.
About You:
  • You hold a relevant Food Hygiene Certificate and have experience cooking varied, healthy meals for large groups regularly.
  • You can manage resources efficiently, including planning rotas to ensure continuous catering service.
  • You are methodical and highly organized, maintaining a clean and tidy kitchen with effective stock management.
