Job description

Job Title: Cook

Location: Acorn Park School, Norwich, NR16 2HU

Salary: GBP20,906.25 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 7am - 3pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

About the role

To support the Cook Manager on a day-to-day basis and, in their absence, be responsible for the management of catering services at Acorn Park School.

Maintain high standards of practice and hygiene in all aspects of food preparation, contributing to the quality of care for each student.

General Responsibilities:
  1. Help prepare and cook main dishes, vegetarian options, desserts, cakes, salads, and various diets from scratch for two refectories on a rota system.
  2. Complete food, snack, cooking, and picnic orders.
  3. Check off and store deliveries.
  4. Serve food, wash up, and clean refectory areas.
  5. Perform cleaning tasks daily, weekly, and monthly.

Acorn Park is a school for 160 pupils with a primary diagnosis of Autism, offering two curriculum pathways—Formal and Semi-formal. We have a mix of Day and Residential pupils, with 8 co-located pupil's homes on a 30-acre rural Norfolk site, featuring a Forest School, Animal Care Farm, play facilities, sports hall, and sensory rooms.

Options Autism has provided care and education for over 16 years to individuals with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we lead in setting and delivering innovative approaches that achieve measurable outcomes for those in our care.
