Job summary

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council is recruiting for a Cook in an Intermediate Care Home for older adults. You will lead the kitchen team, plan and prepare nutritious meals, and ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety while meeting residents' dietary needs.

We require proven care or healthcare kitchen experience, NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation (Level 3 desirable). This permanent role offers weekend/bank holiday enhancements and opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

• Plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals meeting residents' dietary needs.
• Lead and support kitchen staff and assist the cook in charge.
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene.
• Coordinate with care staff to meet individual dietary requirements.

Job Opportunity: Cook – Intermediate Care Home for older adults

Location: Tiled House
Salary: £26,016 - £26,427 subject to pro-rata
Hours: 29 hours per week, (including alternative weekends and bank holidays)
Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Cookto support the cook in charge to lead the kitchen team in our warm and welcoming Intermediate care home. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our residents by providing nutritious, home-cooked meals in a caring environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious balanced meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
• In the absence of the cook in charge, manage kitchen operations, including stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining food safety standards.
• Support kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.
• Liaise with Senior/Care staff to accommodate individual dietary requirements and special occasions.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.

About You:

• Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a care or healthcare setting.
• NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation or equivalent (Level 3 desirable).
• Knowledge of dietary needs for older adults and those with specific health conditions.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• A genuine passion for cooking and caring for others.
