Job summary

Dudley MBC in the United Kingdom is seeking a Cook to support the cook in charge and lead the kitchen team in an Intermediate Care Home for older adults. You will plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals while ensuring dietary needs are met and food hygiene standards are upheld.

The role is 29 hours per week, permanent, with enhancements paid for weekend and bank holiday shifts. NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation required; Level 3 desirable, and right to work in the UK is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a care or healthcare setting.
• NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation or equivalent (Level 3 desirable).
• Knowledge of dietary needs for older adults and those with specific health conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious balanced meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
• In the absence of the cook in charge, manage kitchen operations, including stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining food safety standards.
• Support kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.
• Liaise with Senior/Care staff to accommodate individual dietary requirements and special occasions.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.

Salary: £26,016 - £26,427 subject to pro-rata
