Clayton Legal is seeking a Senior Supervising Solicitor in Manchester to lead and guide a Mortgagee in Possession conveyancing team. You will balance a personal caseload with technical oversight, ensuring high standards of practice and client service.

You will supervise, mentor colleagues, review files, and drive process improvements while staying compliant with SRA requirements and professional standards. Location: Manchester.

I'm currently working on an exciting opportunity for an experienced Supervising Solicitor to join a growing Property team in Manchester.

This is a senior position combining fee earning, technical legal oversight and team supervision, with a particular focus on Mortgagee in Possession (MiP) conveyancing.

You'll play a key role in maintaining high standards of legal quality, compliance and client service, whilst providing technical guidance and support to the wider conveyancing team.

The Role

You'll be responsible for:

• Providing legal supervision and technical oversight across the Mortgagee in Possession conveyancing team
• Managing your own caseload of complex and higher-risk conveyancing matters
• Carrying out file reviews and supporting quality assurance and compliance
• Acting as the key escalation point for complex technical and legal queries
• Identifying and managing legal and operational risks
• Keeping the team up to date with relevant legal and regulatory developments
• Coaching, mentoring and developing fee earners and case handlers
• Supporting improvements to processes, controls and overall service delivery
• Building strong relationships with clients, lenders, asset managers and internal stakeholders
• Ensuring matters are handled in line with SRA requirements, client expectations and professional standards

About You

You'll be a qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate and have significant conveyancing experience, ideally including Mortgagee in Possession work.

You'll also need:

• Strong technical knowledge of residential property and conveyancing
• Good understanding of title investigation and HM Land Registry processes
• Experience supervising or providing technical support to other legal professionals
• Experience with file reviews, quality assurance and legal risk
• Strong understanding of SRA requirements and professional obligations
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to make sound legal decisions and provide commercially focused solutions
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance supervision with your own caseload
• Experience coaching, mentoring or developing colleagues

Experience within a high-volume conveyancing environment, working with lenders, asset management companies or receivers would be particularly beneficial.
