Job summary

Stallion Recruitment Ltd in London seeks a senior Controls Technical Manager to own the BMS and building controls strategy at a prestigious Piccadilly estate. You will lead optimisation, performance and development of BMS and environmental controls, working with the Principal Engineer and client technical team.

The role requires extensive BMS experience, strong HVAC knowledge, and the ability to drive improvements across multiple systems and contractors.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in BMS, Building Controls or Controls Engineering.
• Experience with Trend, Tridium, Siemens or equivalent BMS platforms.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services.
• Experience in BMS programming, fault finding, commissioning and optimisation.
• Good understanding of BMS networks, controllers, sensors, actuators and field devices.
• Ability to interpret BMS trends and plant data and diagnose complex system interactions.
• Experience working within a complex commercial, critical or technically demanding environment.
• Relevant electrical, controls or building services qualifications are desirable.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with engineers, contractors, management and senior client representatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operation, optimisation and development of the BMS and building controls.
• Analyse BMS trends, alarms and plant data to identify and resolve complex faults.
• Lead root‑cause analysis of recurring BMS, HVAC and environmental issues.
• Manage the BMS controls lifecycle, identifying obsolete controllers, sensors, actuators and infrastructure.
• Optimise heating, cooling, AHUs, chilled water, humidification and dehumidification systems.
• Review BMS setpoints, schedules, sequencing and control strategies.
• Lead BMS alarm reduction and rationalisation programmes.
• Support commissioning and handover of new plant and BMS modifications.
• Manage specialist BMS and controls contractors.
• Reduce reliance on external controls contractors by developing in‑house technical capability.
• Provide technical support and mentoring to engineering teams.
• Contribute to energy‑saving initiatives through improved controls and plant optimisation.
• Produce technical reports, recommendations and controls improvement proposals.

CONTROLS TECHNICAL MANAGER - BMS

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Controls Technical Manager / BMS Manager / Controls Engineer to take ownership of the Building Management System (BMS) and controls strategy within a prestigious and technically complex estate in Piccadilly, London.

This is a senior technical position offering the opportunity to lead the optimisation, performance and development of BMS and building controls, working closely with the Principal Engineer, Engineering Manager and client technical team.

The Role - Controls Technical Manager

You will take operational and technical ownership of the site's BMS and associated control systems, ensuring optimum plant performance, environmental stability, reliability and energy efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the operation, optimisation and development of the BMS and building controls.
