Job summary

Aqumen Recruitment is partnering with a Mirfield-based client to recruit a Controls Engineer with strong Mitsubishi PLC experience. The role is hands-on, fault-finding, and requires developing PLC code from scratch to keep automated systems running efficiently.

You will program Mitsubishi PLCs, fault-find across PLCs, sensors and drives, and read electrical drawings. The role includes HMIs, commissioning and improvements in a permanent West Yorkshire position.

Qualifications

• Strong electrical engineering background and electrician experience.
• Proven experience with industrial PLC-controlled machinery.
• Able to write PLC programs from scratch for Mitsubishi platforms.
• Excellent electrical and PLC fault-finding skills; able to read schematics.

Controls Engineer – Mitsubishi PLC / ElectricalMirfield, West Yorkshire |£55,000 -£62,500 | Monday–Friday Days

Are you an electrically biased Controls Engineer with strong Mitsubishi PLC experience?

We're looking for an experienced Controls Engineer / PLC Engineer / Electrical & Controls Engineer to join a well-established Mirfield-based client on a permanent basis.

This is a hands-on engineering role where your electrical knowledge and PLC expertise will be equally important.We're looking for someone who can confidently fault find, modify existing PLC programmes and develop PLC code from new.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for keeping automated machinery and control systems operating efficiently, diagnosing faults and supporting new and existing automation projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Programming and developing Mitsubishi PLCs
• PLC fault finding, diagnostics and programme modifications
• Developing PLC code from new
• Electrical and controls fault finding on industrial machinery
• Diagnosing issues across PLCs, sensors, inputs/outputs, drives and control systems
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
• Supporting machine installation, commissioning and modifications
• Working with HMIs, VSDs/inverters and other automation equipment
• Identifying and implementing improvements to machine reliability and performance
• Working closely with electrical and mechanical engineering teams
• Supporting continuous improvement and automation projects

What We're Looking For

You’ll ideally have:

• A strong electrical engineering / electrician background
• Proven experience working with industrial PLC-controlled machinery
• Strong Mitsubishi PLC experience
• The ability to write PLC programmes from scratch, not just modify existing code
• Excellent electrical and PLC fault-finding skills
• Experience reading electrical schematics and control drawings
• A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving

Siemens PLC experience would also be advantageous, although Mitsubishi is the primary PLC platform.

Experience with HMIs, drives, servo systems, machine safety and commissioning would also be beneficial.
