Job summary

Fidelis Resourcing Limited is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to design electrical control systems, develop PLC software, and support bespoke automated machinery projects. You will spend time on-site with customers and at the Northwest HQ, delivering end-to-end solutions.

The role requires proven electrical controls experience in automation or machinery, knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley/Siemens/Mitsubishi), and willingness to travel internationally as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of electrical controls within automation or machinery, ideally in food packaging or FMCG.
• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming software (Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Siemens and/or HMI).
• Willingness to travel to spend time on-site with customers in the UK and overseas.
• Hybrid working: split time between customer on-site visits and Northwest HQ.

A leading manufacturer of high-speed bakery equipment, the company has an established and well-respected footprint in the UK and overseas. The range of machines have been developed through many years of technical experience and a deep understanding of the industry.

The business is expanding its engineering team and is looking to appoint an experienced Controls Engineer to support future growth plans. Reporting to the Electrical Manager, you will design electrical control systems, develop PLC software, support machine build and commissioning; working directly with customers to deliver bespoke automated machinery solutions. The role would suit an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working on bespoke machinery and seeing their designs and software brought to life at customers.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical control systems, develop software and support machine commissioning based on customer needs.
• Implement electrical installations across customer sites and ensure correct documentation.
• Spend time on-site with customers building strong working relationships to ensure end-to-end installations are smooth and efficient.
• Solve engineering problems with diligence, ownership and creativity.
• Develop strong and effective working relationships with cross functional colleagues within the business.
• Provide leadership and guidance to members of the electrical installation team.
• Lead testing processes and document accordingly.
• Create relevant machine technical manuals ensuring they are tailored to customer needs.
• Act as a company ambassador, internally and externally, consistently living and breathing the culture and values.

Requirements

• Proven experience of electrical controls within an automation or machinery environment, ideally with a food packaging or FMCG machinery background.
• HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge and experience of PLC programming software (ideally Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Siemens and/or HMI).
• Solid experience of engineering design principles.
• Ability to regularly travel to spend time on-site with customers in the UK and overseas as required.
• Happy with a hybrid working arrangement to split time across customer on-site visits and at company’s Northwest HQ.
