Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to join a growing engineering business near Bournemouth, delivering bespoke automation and machinery solutions for diverse industries.

You will design electrical control systems from concept through to commissioning, using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN, and develop PLC/HMI software while ensuring CE/UKCA compliance. A minimum of 3 years' experience and SolidWorks familiarity are required, with an HNC in electrical engineering preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience as controls design engineer.
• Experience creating wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks and training on our systems will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical control systems for automated machinery.
• Create wiring diagrams and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Select PLCs, HMIs, drives, motors, sensors and safety equipment.
• Develop PLC and HMI software for machine control.
• Support build, installation and commissioning activities and conduct testing.

Are you a Controls Design Engineer looking to join a growing and innovative engineering business? The Role:

• Design electrical control systems for automated machinery.
• Create electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar.
• Select PLCs, HMIs, drives, motors, sensors, and safety equipment.
• Develop PLC and HMI software for machine control.
• Ensure compliance with CE/UKCA and relevant industry standards.
• Support build, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Test, fault-find, and troubleshoot control systems.

What we are looking for:

• 3 years experience min as controls design engineer
• Softwares - open but they use solidworks and will train on this.
• Experienced creating wiring diagrams and schematics.
