Job summary

Reevr Talent Ltd is recruiting an experienced Controls & Commissioning Engineer for a leading engineering organisation in the UK. You will develop, commission and support bespoke automation systems from concept to installation.

Work at our facility and on customer sites across the UK with occasional overseas travel. A multi‑skilled engineer with 5+ years in automation, PLC programming and robotics integration is ideal.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with automation equipment or SP machinery.
  • Strong ability to understand mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience programming PLCs and troubleshooting across platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Programming, commissioning and developing special purpose automated machinery and robotic systems.
  • PLC and HMI programming, development and fault finding.
  • Commissioning machine control systems and FAT/SAT support.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical, control and safety issues.
  • Developing machine processes to meet performance standards.
  • Programming and integrating robotic systems (6-axis, SCARA, Delta).
  • Installation, servicing and modifications to existing systems.
  • Providing customer training and technical support.
  • Collaborating with customers, suppliers and internal teams.

Job description

A leading engineering organisation specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke automation and robotic solutions is currently seeking an experienced Controls & Commissioning Engineer to join their growing team.

Working across a variety of industries including automotive, plastics, medical and healthcare, the company is recognised for delivering innovative automation solutions to complex engineering challenges. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they are looking for an experienced engineer to support the programming, commissioning and development of advanced automated machinery.

The Role

As a Controls & Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, commissioning and support of bespoke automation systems from concept through to installation. The role will involve working both at the company's facility and at customer sites across the UK, with occasional overseas travel.

Key responsibilities
  • Programming, commissioning and developing special purpose automated machinery and robotic systems.
  • PLC and HMI programming, development and fault finding.
  • Commissioning machine control systems and supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical, control and safety system issues.
  • Developing machine processes to achieve required performance standards.
  • Programming and integrating robotic systems including 6-axis, SCARA and Delta robots.
  • Carrying out installation, servicing, modifications and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Providing customer training and technical support.
  • Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced multi-skilled engineer with a strong background in automation machinery and control systems.

You will ideally have:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with automation equipment or special purpose machinery.
  • Strong hands‑on engineering skills with the ability to understand both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting experience with platforms such as Siemens, Omron, Allen Bradley, Beckhoff or B&R.
  • Experience integrating and programming industrial robots (6-axis, SCARA or Delta) would be advantageous.
  • Electrical qualifications and experience working with machine electrical systems.
  • Experience fault finding control systems, sensors, safety circuits and automation equipment.
  • Understanding of pneumatic systems and circuits.
  • Experience interfacing with injection moulding machines would be beneficial.
  • A flexible, self‑motivated approach with a willingness to travel and work away when required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers and engineering teams.
