Job summary

Actemium Automation Peterborough is seeking a proactive Software Controls Systems Engineer to join our automation team. You will develop, commission and support PLC, HMI and SCADA software across multiple sectors, collaborating with project managers, hardware engineers, suppliers and customers to meet project requirements and safety standards.

You will lead on-site commissioning, create detailed functional specifications, and participate in FAT/SAT while aligning with project timelines and

Qualifications

Proven experience in developing and commissioning control system software.
Experience with PLC, HMI and SCADA software development and testing.
Familiar with SHEQ procedures and project documentation standards.

Responsibilities

Develop clear, maintainable control system software using PLC, HMI and SCADA platforms.
On-site commissioning, integration and testing of control systems per safety rules.
Create and review functional design specifications and system docs.
Lead and participate in FAT and SAT to verify project requirements.
Collaborate with multiple departments to meet schedule and budget.
Provide technical support, troubleshooting and remote diagnostics.
Ensure software and docs comply with SHEQ and standards.
Contribute to library standardisation and reusable code assets.
Coach and mentor junior software engineers and attend client meetings.
