Job summary

HR GO Group in Bishop's Stortford is recruiting an Electrical Control Panel Wiring Technician to join the workshop build team. You will assemble and wire panels to detailed drawings and test assemblies for faults.

This permanent, full-time role offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with free on-site parking. Requires City & Guilds/NVQ level qualifications, 18th Edition, and ability to read wiring diagrams. UK driving licence preferred.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 236, NVQ Level 3 with AM2) and 18th Edition.
• Able to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• Experience in controls work and basic electrical wiring.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and build electrical control panels, drilling and fitting components to technical drawings.
• Wire control panels in line with supplied wiring schematics and build documentation.
• Bench test completed control panels, recording results and identifying faults.
• Wire skid-mounted equipment, including valves, pumps, heaters and instrumentation (1ph/3ph).
• Install skid-mounted pneumatic equipment to specification and build standards.
• Terminate electrical cabling and pneumatic lines neatly and correctly within control panels.
• Carry out in-house PAT testing in accordance with workplace procedures and safety requirements.
• Manage electrical stock control, completing stock takes and reporting low stock for replenishment.
• Support electrical re-assembly of systems on customer sites, ensuring safe, compliant installation.

Key skills & experience:

• Recognised electrical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 236, NVQ Level 3 with AM2) plus 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Hands‑on experience in controls work and basic electrical wiring.
• Able to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Basic control panel wiring knowledge and good attention to detail.
• Competent with workshop tools and practices (power/hand tools and good engineering housekeeping).
• Comfortable with the physical aspects of working on skid-mounted, steel-framed equipment.
• Strong timekeeping and good organisation skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desired skills & experience:

• Confident reading piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and general arrangement (GA) drawings.
• Solid understanding of basic electrical circuits.
• Fault‑finding capability from basic diagnostics through to more advanced troubleshooting.
• Previous site experience, including re‑assembly and reconnection of skid wiring.
• Exposure to, or hands‑on experience with, PLCs and HMIs.
