Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking an experienced Control Panel Wirer / Electrical Fitter to join our Huntingdon-based workshop. You will wire control panels and enclosures, interpret electrical drawings, and install components from build to completion.

The role requires hands-on electrical work, a collaborative approach with mechanical fitters, and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety throughout the build process.

Qualifications

• Experience wiring control panels and industrial electrical installations.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Comfortable working as part of a project team to deliver high-quality machinery.

Responsibilities

• Build, wire and assemble electrical control panels and enclosures.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Carry out cable preparation, routing, wiring loom assembly and electrical terminations.
• Install and connect electrical components within control panels and machine assemblies.
• Wire electrical components including motors, drives, sensors and pushbuttons.
• Support the electrical build of bespoke packaging and processing machinery.
• Work with mechanical fitters to complete projects on time and to quality standards.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and attention to detail.

Job Role: Control Panel Wirer / Electrical Fitter Location: Huntingdon
Salary: £35,000-£38,000 + Benefits

Proactive are currently looking for an experienced Control Panel Wirer / Electrical Fitter to join a busy and growing machinery manufacturer workshop team based in Huntingdon.

You'll be responsible for wiring control panels and enclosures, interpreting electrical drawings and installing electrical components throughout the machine from initial build through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, wire and assemble electrical control panels and enclosures.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Carry out cable preparation, routing, wiring loom assembly and electrical terminations.
• Install and connect electrical components within control panels and machine assemblies.
• Wire electrical components including motors, drives, sensors and pushbuttons.
• Support the electrical build of bespoke packaging and processing machinery.
• Work collaboratively with mechanical fitters and other engineers to complete projects on time and to the required quality standards.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and attention to detail throughout the build process.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in control panel wiring, electrical fitting or industrial electrical installation.
• Experience wiring control panels, PLC panels, MCC panels or similar industrial electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics confidently.
• A hands‑on, flexible approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a project team.
• Someone who enjoys practical electrical work and takes pride in building high‑quality machinery from start to finish.
