Placements24 is seeking a skilled Control and Instrumentation Technician to join our processing plant team. You will calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation to ensure reliable operation and safety standards.

Responsibilities include installing instruments, maintaining control systems, and documenting activities. A diploma and 3 years' experience are required; training and certification opportunities available.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or N6 in Control and Instrumentation Engineering or related field.
• At least 3 years as an Instrumentation Technician in process/mining environments.
• Experience with PLCs and instrumentation; read schematics.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and electrical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and maintain industrial instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level).
• Troubleshoot and repair control systems, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Assist engineers with design and upgrades of control systems.
• Ensure safety procedures and record-keeping.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Control and Instrumentation Technician to join their processing plant team in East London . This role is essential for ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of process control systems, instruments, and automation equipment. You will be responsible for calibrating, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation to maintain optimal plant performance and safety standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically proficient individual to contribute to the efficient functioning of a key industrial facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and maintain a variety of industrial instruments (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, level sensors).
• Troubleshoot and repair faults in control systems, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on instrumentation and control equipment.
• Assist engineers in the design, modification, and upgrade of control systems.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety procedures and company standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance and calibration activities.

Requirements

• National Diploma or N6 qualification in Control and Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician, preferably in a process plant or mining environment .
• Proficiency with various types of instrumentation and control valves.
• Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Strong understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
