Job summary

Caval Limited in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Road Surfacing Contracts Manager. The role can be based in the Cambridge office with some home and site working, and involves managing surfacing contracts across the UK.

The position is permanent with a salary in the 70–75k range and an interview process before start in September. You will run your own diary, build jobs, manage multiple sites and supervisors, and contribute to the company’s strong reputation with a comprehensive benefits

Job description

Role: Road Surfacing Contracts Manager

Duration: Permanent

Location: Cambridge based office (some home and site working)

Salary: 70-75k

Start: September time after interview process

As an experienced Contracts Manager with a strong surfacing background, you will ensure that the contracts are carried out on time and to a high quality standards. This role will be managing contracts on surfacing schemes within retail premesis around the UK. Based on site, in the Cambridge office or working from home, our client are looking for someone who can run their own diary, build jobs, manage multiple sites/supervisors. • First Aid
• CSCS Card
• Driving License

For this role it is essential that you hold the skills & experience below;

• Experience managing multiple surfacing schemes at once
• Previous experience as a Contracts Manager on surfacing schemes / highways surfacing - or a Senior Superivsor looking for a step up

Duties

• Managing multiple surfacing contracts to achieve financial, safety, quality, and environmental targets
• Pre-contract planning and liaison with estimators
• Leading and delegating duties to engineering and contract staff
• Maintaining a working knowledge of current contract forms, acts, and legislation
• Accepting, approving, and issuing contracts and subcontracts
• Ensuring company's Health and Safety and other IMS procedures are complied with planning, programming, and resourcing contracts
• Liaising, negotiating, and meeting with clients, consulting engineers, surveyors, and sub-contractors and others
• Assisting with the preparation of quality bids, PQQs, and other presentations as required
• Providing technical, contractual, and legal advice
• Providing accurate information for regional monthly contract appraisals and other reports as required
• Budgeting, monitoring, and control of contract finances
• Identifying, evaluating, and managing claims and variations
• Compiling applications for payment and agreeing final accounts
• Motivating, coaching, and providing guidance to staff and operatives
• Interviewing, selection, recruitment, discipline, and dismissal of staff
• Maintaining photographic library, publicity material, contract press releases, etc
• Improving and promoting company profile and activities
