About The Role
The Contracts Manager - Procurement will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our supplier contracts and procurement activities are conducted efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices. This includes:
- Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and concluding a variety of supply-side contracts, including for raw materials used in manufacturing, assemblies, fabricated parts, logistics and transportation contracts, consultancy contracts, and IT contracts.
- Compliance: Ensuring that all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and Brush policies and procedures.
- Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with procurement and contract management.
- General support for Procurement: Contributing to the entire procurement process, from identifying and adopting best practices in selecting suppliers and managing supplier relationships, managing contract costs to ensure value for money, and dealing with underperforming suppliers.
Additional Responsibilities
The role also involves supporting the Group Legal & Compliance function, providing general and project support to the Group Legal Director, and assisting the Group Compliance Manager in embedding compliance initiatives. The position may require travel to locations including Newport, Wales, central London, and Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Draft, review, negotiate, renew, and potentially terminate a wide range of purchasing contracts, ensuring alignment with Brush’s strategic objectives and interests.
- Support the development and implementation of procurement strategies and processes, including advising on contract performance and compliance, and assessing legal and compliance risks.
- Procurement Process Support: Engage in supplier evaluations, tendering, bidding processes, and contract award evaluations.
- Contract Administration: Advise on contract variations and disputes, and highlight contractual exposures related to sustainability goals.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
- Degree in Law, Business, or a related field (or equivalent qualification) is essential.
- CIPS or equivalent procurement qualification is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of contract law principles and tendering best practices.
- Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with budget holders and buyers to fulfill supply chain and tactical needs.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., contract management systems, procurement platforms).
