Job summary

Advance TRS in Belfast is seeking a CEM-qualified engineer for a Rail Permanent Way contract. You will work within delivery teams on major rail projects, focusing on permanent way and rail systems, ensuring construction work is carried out safely and to required quality.

The role emphasises on-site leadership, mentoring CREs, and taking engineering ownership from start to finish. A strong civils background, knowledge of standards, and previous CEM status are essential.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Solid civils engineering knowledge and multi-discipline interfaces.
• Previously held CEM status.
• Good knowledge of standards, processes, and procedures.

• Serve as the engineer on delivery works for rail projects.

Job title: CEM - Rail Permanent Way

Type: Contract

Rate: Dependant on experience

Role

You will be expected work within the rail aspects of delivery and associated works with the other disciplines and to deliver construction work safely to the level of quality expected. This role will be to manage works with a focus on Pway at delivery stage of major projects. This is construction rather than design led within permanent way and rail systems.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Undertaking the role of an engineer on delivery works
• Act as CEM mentoring a team of CREs
• Carrying out engineering responsibilities in project from start to finish
• Controlling all onsite technical activities and quality control.

Essential requirements:

• Education to HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent suitable experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of civils and related engineering principles, including interfaces between disciplines.
• Held CEM status previously
• Good knowledge and understanding of standards, processes and procedures.
