Job summary

Acron Aviation is seeking Contract Theoretical Knowledge Instructors to deliver ATPL theory at the Crawley training centre. You will cover the minimum 750 hours of instruction aligned with CAA/EASA syllabi and prepare examinations and assessments.

Ideal candidates have classroom teaching experience, aviation background, and the ability to work flexibly in a contractor capacity. The role offers ad‑hoc instruction days and a dynamic learning environment at our Crawley facility.

Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in a classroom setting is essential.
  • Aviation experience as flight crew or engineer or related industry helps deliver credible lessons.
  • Strong communication, multitasking and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of CAA/EASA ATPL theory subjects.
  • Prepare and update ATPL course materials per latest syllabus.
  • Invigilate and moderate ATPL theory exams.
  • Monitor trainee progress and provide guidance to learners.
  • Maintain accurate course records in the Training Management System (TMS).

Contractor Opportunity – Flexible, Ad‑Hoc Engagement (Daily Rate). This position is offered on a contractor basis rather than as a permanent or fixed‑hours role. We are seeking multiple qualified instructors who are open to flexible, demand‑based work. Hours are not guaranteed and will vary depending on training demand. Engagements will be assigned based on operational needs, availability, and skill alignment. This opportunity is ideal for professionals looking to supplement their current commitments with ad‑hoc instruction days at our London Training Centre.

Reporting To: Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (CTKI). Location: Acron Aviation Training Centre Crawley (UK).

Purpose of Role: The CAA / EASA ATPL syllabus of Theoretical Knowledge is an integral part of the course leading to the issue of an ATPL license. The course includes a minimum of 750 hours of instruction, delivered in accordance with the CAA / EASA ratified training manual(s) along with 13 formal exams set by the CAA / EASA and assessments under Area 100 KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Attitude).

Key Competency Areas:

Technical Expertise

  • To teach a range of CAA/EASA ATPL subjects.
  • To prepare and update CAA/EASA ATPL course materials in accordance with the latest syllabus, making changes in anticipation of future syllabus changes.
  • To prepare, invigilate and moderate appropriate CAA/EASA ATPL theoretical knowledge school exams.
  • To monitor and report on trainee progress.
  • To provide guidance and support to individual trainees.
  • To maintain accurate course records with designated Training Management System (TMS).

Leadership & Supervisory Skills

  • To act as a course mentor and subject expert within specific subject areas.
  • To maintain subject knowledge in line with industry and syllabus requirements.

Skills And Experience:

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with trainees of different academic and language abilities.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, carrying out assignments to successful completion.
  • International outlook with the ability to interact with different cultures.
  • Proficient at working with Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Strong organizational and customer-focused skills.

Qualifications And Educational Requirements:

  • Teaching experience in a classroom setting essential.
  • Proven experience within the Aviation as flight crew or engineer, or within a closely related industry to provide the ability to deliver lessons with credibility.
