Socode is seeking a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer to design sub-modules and enclosures for integration onto an airborne platform in a Cambridge-area tech environment. The role sits between mechanical, electronics and RF teams, taking concepts through to manufacture with supplier collaboration for rapid turnarounds.

Key focus areas include Creo-based detailed design, windchill-managed models, and packaging of PCBs and RF hardware into robust assemblies. SC clearance is desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong, recent experience using Creo Parametric for detailed mechanical design.
• Experience with Windchill / PDMLink.
• Experience with Creo Advanced Assembly Extension (AAX).
• Background in electro-mechanical design and electronic packaging.
• Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, injection moulding, casting and rapid prototyping.
• Confident dealing directly with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Able to hold or obtain SC clearance.

Responsabilités

• Design mechanical sub-modules and enclosures for airborne platform integration.
• Develop aerodynamic enclosures and structures for operating environment.
• Package PCBs, harnesses and control electronics into robust assemblies.
• Collaborate with RF and electronics engineers on RF enclosure design.
• Produce 3D models, assemblies and drawings in Creo and Windchill.
• Select materials and manufacturing methods for each part.
• Coordinate with manufacturers to ensure fast prototyping and production turnaround.
• Support design reviews and prep designs for build and integration.
