Buckinghamshire Council is seeking a Contract Manager (Construction) to oversee significant capital projects. This role involves providing commercial guidance, managing contracts, and ensuring project compliance. Ideal candidates will have extensive property construction experience and a relevant degree. The Construction Team, within the Communities directorate portfolio, manages a significant revenue and expenditure budget and is committed to an ambitious capital programme covering commercial, operational, and community development projects.
We are seeking a Contract Manager (Construction) to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager, this key role requires expertise in service delivery, stakeholder management, and adapting to a dynamic operational environment, particularly in integrating services from legacy organizations.
This position is a 12-month FTC/Secondment to cover maternity, with the possibility of a two-month extension.

Our Construction Team plays a vital role in delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK.
You will provide expert commercial guidance for capital projects worth up to £100m annually, from inception through to completion. Your responsibilities include managing project standards, governance, contracts, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring risk is effectively managed.
The role involves leading on strategic and major construction projects, maintaining project processes, delivering contractual and commercial oversight, and managing performance and compliance of suppliers and partners. You will also undertake site visits, participate in project meetings, and support risk management and assurance activities.

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in property construction, preferably with knowledge of Buckinghamshire. A relevant degree or substantial equivalent experience is required, with membership of RICS or CIOB desirable. You should have a proven track record in managing major construction projects, external consultants, budgets, procurement, and contracts, particularly JCT forms.
