Construction Manager – Defence Refurbishment Projects

A unique opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Construction Managerto take the lead on high-value commercial refurbishment projects within a secure, defence-based environment.

This role requires a hands-on leader to oversee multiple projects at a single high-security location. With responsibility for contractor performance, on-site safety, quality control, and programme delivery, the successful candidate will be pivotal in ensuring project success from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead daily site operations across several concurrent refurbishment projects
• Supervise and motivate subcontractors and site teams
• Monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure project milestones are met
• Liaise with internal project managers and on-site building stakeholders
• Deliver site safety briefings and toolbox talks
• Conduct and manage regular HSEQ inspections, audits, and reporting
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and site documentation
• Ensure full compliance with MOD security and safety procedures

Candidate Requirements:

• Hold active security clearance or clearance lapsed within the last 6 months
• Sole UK national, eligible for further security vetting if needed
• 5+ years of experience working for a Tier 1 contractor
• Previous experience managing MOD or highly regulated sites
• Strong background in commercial refurbishments or new builds
• In-depth knowledge of HSEQ processes and legislation
• SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certified
• Additional qualifications such as NEBOSH/IOSH, Asbestos Awareness, Legionella Management, and Temporary Works Coordinator (CITB) are highly desirable
