Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Contracts Manager to oversee a portfolio of water and wastewater schemes across the Thames Valley region. You will lead site managers, ensure programme delivery and uphold client satisfaction from inception to handover.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and NEC3/4 understanding, with travel to multiple sites as needed. This is a full-time on-site position within our Reading operations.

Qualifications

• CSCS and SSSTS/SMSTS qualifications required.
• HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles and NEC3 or NEC4.
• Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills; willingness to travel to sites across your operational region.

Responsibilities

• Instill the company culture and drive consistency across schemes.
• Lead a team of site managers to ensure successful delivery of the programme.
• Improve awareness, compliance and performance with company standards and processes.
• Facilitate the growth and development of the team.
• Overall responsibility for commercial and programme delivery while ensuring client satisfaction.

MMB has successfully extended its contract with Thames Water for an additional five years. As the largest water and wastewater provider in the UK, Thames Water serves 15 million customers throughout London and the Thames Valley. This extension will carry the current agreement through to the end of AMP8 in March 2030. MMB is delivering work on three frameworks in the region, which sees us undertake a varied programme of water and wastewater non-infrastructure and infrastructure projects to improve the network.

With sites located across the Thames Valley region including; Aylesbury, Banbury, and Reading.

As a Contracts Manager you will be responsible for a portfolio of schemes that enhance our environment and communities - from improving flood defences, to upgrading water treatment works and providing nature-based solutions that improve biodiversity. Our Contract Managers are great communicators, motivators & leaders, who have a wealth of technical knowledge, and have full ownership of the whole process from inception to handover.

What You’ll Need

• Excellent organisation and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
• A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
