We are pleased to announce that Mears has been awarded a prestigious Net Zero Retrofit project delivering SHDF works on behalf of our clients. This achievement highlights our commitment to excellence in facilities maintenance and social housing services. The SHDF project aims to enhance the quality and sustainability of social housing by improving standards and implementing energy-saving solutions for the community, thereby driving energy efficiency and improving residents' living conditions.

About the Role:

The Contract Manager will work within our planned works team to ensure the delivery of a stable and profitable contract, providing excellent service and support through our local teams, who understand the importance of working together for the community.

The role involves supporting the General Manager in delivering high-quality capital and programmed works and/or built environment services to housing client properties. The Contract Manager will ensure teams operate to Mears standards and deliver top-tier customer service while adhering to safety, quality, and cost standards related to budget, profitability, and resource deployment.

  • Manage all aspects of operational and commercial delivery, ensuring contract performance aligns with commitments and protocols.
  • Oversee works to programme timeframes, and produce updates related to budget, cash flow, work programmes, and health & safety.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, Mears procedures, and quality standards, maintaining best practices and legislation adherence.
  • Manage direct labour resources and supply chain, seeking opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency, working with procurement on agreements and innovations.
  • Complete and adhere to reporting protocols with required timescales.
  • Promote a customer-focused culture across all activities, demonstrating professionalism and high safety standards.
  • Achieve high customer satisfaction levels and meet contractual KPIs, following Mears procedures.
  • Manage employee performance, coach and develop staff, and ensure proper asset management and HR policy compliance.
  • Provide accurate management reports and maintain strong client relationships, gathering feedback on project delivery and market trends.

Role Criteria:

  • Proven experience in capital/programmed works or repairs and maintenance management.
  • Strong performance and commercial management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple sites and contracts effectively.
  • Experience in customer-focused environments.
  • Skills in motivating a diverse workforce and maintaining governance, risk management, and control environments.

Candidates must have the right to work in the UK; Mears does not sponsor visas. To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held a license for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points. All roles are subject to DBS/security checks.
