To organise and supervise the unit in accordance with and to the standards required by Compass Group UK & Ireland, the contract specification, and statutory Regulations. Be responsible for the overall efficient and effective management of the unit under your control, providing a quality service. Oversee the preparation, cooking, and service of food to agreed standards and specifications. Ensure the efficient and economical use of all resources, including stock, team members, and company assets.

Key responsibilities within this role will include:

• Provide guidance and take a strategic approach to organising and managing the business through your team.
• Communicate, motivate, and guide your management team and catering staff daily. Set clear operational responsibilities and monitor performance.
• Take overall responsibility for food and health & safety procedures in the college catering department.
• Promote the unit and act as a Compass Advocate at all times.
• Manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
• Ensure all client hospitality is delivered to the agreed standards and seek feedback.
• Identify opportunities to enhance and develop the service, discussing ideas with your line manager.
• Introduce innovation and flair in the food provided to prevent service from becoming repetitive.
• Operate within the budget, monitor trends, and take corrective actions when necessary.
• Ensure all customer requirements are met in line with expectations.
