Role Overview

Organise and supervise the unit according to Compass Group UK & Ireland standards, contract specifications, and statutory regulations. Manage the unit efficiently, ensuring quality service, overseeing food preparation, cooking, and service to standard, and making optimal use of resources including stock, staff, and assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance and manage the team responsible for daily operations.
• Communicate effectively, motivate, and guide management and catering staff, setting clear responsibilities and monitoring performance.
• Take overall responsibility for food quality and health and safety in the college catering department.
• Promote the unit and act as a Compass Advocate at all times.
• Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Ensure client hospitality meets standards and gather feedback on food and service.
• Identify opportunities to enhance and innovate the service, discussing ideas with your line manager.
• Introduce variety and flair in food offerings to prevent service from becoming repetitive.
• Operate within the budget, monitor trends, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Ensure customer requirements are met in line with expectations.
