Contract Buyer - Fast-Paced Manufacturing (Temp to Perm)

Job summary

Vickerstock are working with a leading manufacturing and technology business in Belfast to recruit a Buyer on an initial 3-month temporary contract, with a genuine opportunity for the role to go permanent.

This role will support timely procurement, liaise with suppliers and internal teams, and help maintain ERP data while collaborating with the wider Supply Chain team across Purchasing, Materials Control, Logistics and Production.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a purchasing or Buyer role.
• Experience placing and expediting orders.
• Experience managing suppliers and delivery requirements.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience working with ERP or MRP systems.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Proactive and positive problem-solving approach.
• Three years' experience in purchasing; manufacturing experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Placing and expediting purchase orders.
• Maintaining and managing delivery dates.
• Managing material shortages, especially for critical products.
• Liaising with Production regarding purchasing and material requirements.
• Negotiating pricing and terms with suppliers.
• Building and maintaining supplier relationships.
• Monitoring supplier performance and delivery targets.
• Updating pricing information in ERP.
• Maintaining data in ERP system.
• Supporting stock accuracy with Materials Control.
