Job summary

Pertemps Isle of Wight has an ongoing temporary Buyer role based in Newport, Isle of Wight. You will purchase parts and materials, manage purchase orders, and work with suppliers to ensure quality, cost and lead times are met.

The role requires experience in purchasing/procurement, strong negotiation and analytical skills, and the ability to handle multiple orders and deadlines. Previous ERP/procurement software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Pertemps Isle of Wight are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, based in Newport, who are looking for an experienced Buyer to join their team on an ongoing temporary basis.

The Role

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing parts and materials, managing purchase orders and working closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure requirements are met in terms of quality, cost and lead times.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and administer purchase orders in line with internal requirements.
• Identify purchasing requirements based on production schedules and forecasts.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure quality, cost and delivery requirements are met.
• Obtain quotations and support internal teams with purchasing requirements.
• Expedite existing orders and proactively monitor supplier deliveries.
• Monitor and adjust delivery schedules to ensure materials are available when required.
• Provide regular updates on outstanding orders to internal stakeholders.
• Assist with the resolution of non-conforming parts received from suppliers.
• Work in accordance with internal processes and procedures.
• Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
• Support internal auditing activities.
• Assist with other duties within the operations team as required.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within purchasing, procurement or supply chain and be comfortable managing multiple suppliers, orders and deadlines.
