Job summary

Forward Assist Recruitment is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer in Billingham for a permanent, full-time role within a large-scale heavy manufacturing site. You will fault-find across electrical and mechanical systems, perform planned, preventative and reactive maintenance, and support installation work.

The continental shift pattern offers a stable, hands-on position with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

Recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance or equivalent qualification.
Hands-on maintenance experience in industrial manufacturing.
Strong fault-finding across electrical/mechanical systems.
Experience diagnosing plant breakdowns and performing planned/reactive maintenance.
Safe, methodical work practices in an industrial environment.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Basic computer literacy.
Knowledge of PLCs and plant control systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Respond to electrical and mechanical breakdowns and faults.
Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across plant and equipment.
Diagnose faults and complete repairs to minimise downtime.
Carry out electrical installation work where required.
Support site electrical and control systems maintenance.
Work with PLC and plant control systems.
Ensure maintenance meets electrical, mechanical and safety compliance.
Record planned and reactive maintenance activity.
Liaise with third-party contractors on site.
Collaborate with engineering, production and stakeholders across the business.
Assist wider maintenance team to improve plant reliability and performance.
