Job summary

B P Collins LLP in Gerrards Cross is seeking a Contested Probate Solicitor to expand our Dispute Resolution team. You will handle a range of wills, trusts, estates and personal representatives disputes, with a practical, client-focused approach.

You will work within the Contested Probate Team, advising on strategy, negotiations, mediation and litigation, while supporting related private client and property matters.

B P Collins is looking for aContested Probate Solicitor to expand our Dispute Resolution team.

This is an opportunity to workon sensitive, technically interesting disputes involving wills, trusts, estatesand personal representatives, while being part of a highly regarded team knownfor its practical, commercial and client-focused approach.

The role would suit 2-5 PQE solicitorswho enjoys both the technical detail of contentious probate and the human sideof helping clients through difficult, often emotionally complex disputes.

The role

You will work closely withinour Contested Probate Team and the wider Dispute Resolution team, advisingclients on a broad range of contested probate matters. The work will includenegotiation, mediation and litigation, with a focus on achieving clear,proportionate and commercially sensible outcomes.

You will also supportcolleagues across the firm where contested probate issues overlap with privateclient, property and real estate matters.

The work will include

You will advise on mattersinvolving:

• Claims under the Inheritance (Provision forFamily and Dependants) Act
• Challenges to the validity of wills
• Disputes involving executors and personalrepresentatives
• Applications for the removal of personalrepresentatives
• Trust disputes
• Mutual wills disputes
• Property-related issues arising withincontested estates

You will meet clients, assessthe facts, advise on strategy and costs, prepare correspondence and courtdocuments, instruct counsel where appropriate, and help progress mattersthrough settlement, mediation or trial.

About you

We are looking for a solicitorwith relevant experience in contested probate, trusts and estate disputes.

You will have:

• Sound knowledge of civil litigation procedure
• Strong interest in contentious trusts andprobate work and ideally experience in advising on contentious probate mattersor a seat in contentious probateStrong client care and communication skills
• The ability to manage a busy and variedcaseload with the support of the Contentious Probate Team
• Strong drafting and file management skills
• Confidence working independently whereappropriate, while contributing to a collaborative team
• A practical, calm and objective approach todispute resolution
