Job summary

G2 Legal Limited in Hale is seeking an experienced Contentious Probate Solicitor to lead and develop the firm's contentious probate practice. You will manage your own caseload and provide leadership to junior lawyers within the team.

You will report to the Head of Litigation and have scope to shape the growth of the department as the workload increases, maintaining high standards of client care and technical excellence.

About the Firm

An established and growing law firm is expanding its specialist contentious probate practice following a substantial increase in work generated through its successful marketing activity.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Contentious Probate Lawyer to take ownership of a busy and dedicated practice, with scope to play a key role in its continued development.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Contentious Probate Solicitor to lead and develop the firm's contentious probate practice.

The role is focused specifically on contentious probate matters rather than non-contentious wills work. You will report directly to the Head of Litigation and will take responsibility for managing your own caseload while providing leadership, supervision and support to the existing team.

You will have the opportunity to shape the practice as it continues to grow and manage a strong and potentially increasing flow of work.

The Team

The contentious probate team currently comprises:

• A newly Qualified Solicitor, who manages a number of cases under the supervision of the Head of Litigation
• A paralegal providing support to the team
• You will work closely with both team members, providing guidance and oversight while independently leading the contentious probate practice

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the firm's contentious probate practice, reporting to the Head of Litigation
• Manage a busy caseload of contentious probate matters from initial instruction through to resolution
• Oversee and support the Newly Qualified Solicitor and Paralegal
• Provide technical guidance, supervision and mentoring to junior members of the team
• Take ownership of the team's growing caseload and ensure matters are progressed effectively
• Help manage and develop the practice as the volume of contentious probate work continues to increase
• Maintain high standards of client care, technical accuracy and case management

About You

We are looking for a Contentious Probate Lawyer with approximately five or more years' post-qualification experience (PQE) who is confident handling contentious probate matters and is ready to take ownership of a growing practice.

You will ideally have:

• Strong technical expertise in contentious probate
• The ability to manage contentious probate matters independently
• Excellent client management and communication skills
• The confidence to provide guidance and support to junior colleagues
• Strong organisational and case-management skills

A commercially minded approach and an interest in developing a growing specialist practice

Previous management experience is not essential. The key requirement is strong contentious probate expertise and the ability and willingness to take a leadership role within the team.
