Job description

Job Title: Content & Social Media Executive

Location: London (Minimum two days in the office)

Department: Marketing Week & Creative Review

Reports To: Head of Marketing

Job Type: Full-Time

About the role

You will lead the social media presence and support content marketing strategy for Marketing Week and Creative Review, two of the UK’s most respected industry titles in marketing and creativity. Sitting within the marketing team but closely embedded with editorial, you'll translate high-quality content into engaging, high-performing social and email output. You’ll also contribute to driving subscriptions, product awareness, and brand engagement aligning what we do on social with brand objectives.

You’ll build strong connections with editorial teams taking the content created for the website and bringing it to life on our social channels. You’ll also be working closely with the marketing team to align social media output with brand values and tracking key KPIs reporting back to the team on a regular basis on performance and opportunities presented via social.

Key responsibilities

Content & social media execution

  • Own and evolve the social media calendars for both brands
  • Create, schedule, and publish content across all key platforms
  • Repurpose editorial content for social in engaging, platform-native formats (e.g., carousels, threads, reels)
  • Build and send out daily brand newsletters

Engagement & community management

  • Interact with followers, replying to comments and nurturing communities
  • Monitor social trends and conversation opportunities to grow relevance and reach

Paid & organic strategy alignment

  • Support execution of paid social campaigns with internal and agency teams
  • Align organic and paid activity to boost impact and improve targeting

Performance & reporting

  • Track and report on channel performance, audience engagement, and content trends
  • Make informed recommendations for ongoing optimisation using social, website and email data

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with editorial, marketing, and SEO teams
  • Support wider marketing goals including events, awards, and subscriptions

Behaviours and Knowledge

  • An experienced social media executive with a comprehensive knowledge on social platforms
  • A good understanding of wider marketing channels and how social media connects to them to create a consistent and compelling story
  • Strong grasp of social content formats (video, carousels, memes, live content, stories, polls, etc.)
  • Web production experience including use of programmes such as WordPress, Photoshop, ExactTarget and online tools such as Canva
  • Experience running social media accounts, preferably for a newsroom
  • Great content creation skills and a love of writing
  • Understanding of email marketing best practice
  • Solid knowledge of SEO and paid social
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, native platform insights, Hootsuite)
  • A quick learner who can understand different markets and subject matter quickly
  • Versatile being able to coordinate multiple tasks and deadlines, as well as keep accurate records
  • A collaborator able to work with a variety of people and teams both internally and externally
