A Little More About Your Role…
We are seeking a Transport Plannerto be based in our Leeds office to support our regional clients.
- Support the delivery of our portfolio of projects with a focus on active travel, public transport, transport optioneering and feasibility studies, appraisal and business case development and corridor studies.
- Working with the local team and directly with clients to contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
- Opportunity to work collaboratively with our Net Zero, Future Mobility, Social Value and other experts on a range of innovative strategies for our public sector clients.
- We would support the successful candidate in working towards professional accreditation through our in-house network of mentors.
- Managing tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary team and producing high-quality outputs in line with client requirements.
- Make a positive contribution to the commercial performance of the team, with the ability to recognise key metrics and understand how individual and project team performance contributes to them.
- Make an active contribution to our four key pillars (People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Technical Excellence).
Your Team
Our Leeds Transport Planning Team of 20 people sits within a wider team of over 100 transport planning professionals across the North, Midlands and Scotland with close links to our southern transport planning team. We also work closely with our Team Transport colleagues in Strategic Modelling and Liveable Places.
We deliver a wide range of transport planning projects for our clients, as well as an extensive portfolio of multi-disciplinary and cross-sector services, including (but not limited to): active travel solutions; public transport network planning; scheme development and appraisal; business case development and Government funding applications for all types of transport schemes; economic appraisal; carbon appraisal and management; consultation and engagement, transport strategy and policy development. You may have broad experience that spans across these areas, or you may be a specialist in one or more. We can help you to broaden your experience or deepen your specialist skill areas in line with your career aspirations.
Our local and regional pipeline of work is extensive, and the successful applicant will help us to deliver a challenging and exciting pipeline of work for a range of regional clients, predominantly Combined and Local Authorities.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
- Experience in transport scheme feasibility, optioneering and development.
- Experience preparing and working with business cases for transport schemes.
- Knowledge and practical experience in active and sustainable travel (including public transport).
- Confidence in adapting complex information into concise, plain-language summaries.
- We are keen to hear from people who hold or who are currently working towards a professional qualification / chartership.
- Experience of working with Local Authority and Combined Authority clients.
- Experience in advising on, delivering and reporting on social value commitments.
- An interest in decarbonisation of transport.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to successfully deliver information and presentations to a variety of audiences.
- Commercial acumen with the ability to manage tasks to support the wider team and leading more junior members of the team.
