Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Our Planning team is growing, and we are looking for a Town Planner to support our team with a range of planning duties focusing on policy, strategy, infrastructure consents, and regeneration planning.

As part of our Environmental team, you'll help improve quality of life. Your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality, or noise, especially in some of the world's busiest and most beautiful locations.

We work to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations. We are addressing challenges like climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity, with increasing frequency of large-scale events such as floods and wildfires.

Our team supports clients with complex projects including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, energy and infrastructure developments, residential and commercial schemes, socio-economic, health, and community planning, as well as research into the planning process. Our clients include Highways England, Transport for London, HS2, National Grid, Homes England, the Environment Agency, Welsh Government, and the Canals & Rivers Trust, among others.

At Arcadis, variety is standard. You will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects across our business. As a Town Planner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing planning advice to clients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on masterplans, planning applications, regeneration strategies, policies, or socio-economic and health impact assessments.
  • Partnering with clients to understand their challenges and applying your expertise to deliver optimal solutions.
  • Supporting client relationships and business development efforts.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in town planning, including policy, strategy, planning applications, consents, regeneration planning, and masterplans.
  • Understanding of socio-economic and health impact assessments for development and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working on planning applications, especially infrastructure consents.
  • Ability to support masterplans and impact assessments within matrix and dispersed teams.
  • A relevant degree and a Masters in an accredited planning course, working towards MRTPI chartership.
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders, including hard-to-reach groups and virtual public engagement.

We are expanding our team due to increased project demand. We offer variety through work on a broad range of projects across sectors such as automotive, aviation, and manufacturing.

This role can be based in Birmingham, Leeds, London, or Manchester, with options for remote work.
