Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be joining a team of 17 whole time equivalent Consultants who provide radiological services to our patients supported by 8 whole time speciality Registrars. This is further supported by reporting radiographers and sonographers.
The on-call commitment is currently 1 in 18 for weekday evenings across the trust and one in every 9 weekends. (Weekends usually split between 2 consultants). Overnight between 8.00pm and 8.00am will be directly referred to a Teleradiology company. The local consultant being second on call.

We are seeking an excellent Clinician who thrives in the busy environment of a Radiology Department, providing our consultant of session which allows other clinical specialists direct contact with a radiologist.
Radiology at the Trust
We have plain film, CT and MRI (provided by InHealth) at our 4 main sites, The Northumbria specialist hospital and the 3 General hospitals, plus smaller radiology at community sites to support the minor injury units.
The Trust has an active Teaching role and the post holder would be expected to have a modest role in the education of medical students and doctors in training.
We have a Research and Development department and research and clinical audit is encouraged within the radiology department working with other specialities to explore new technologies and patient care linking with radiology.
