A leading healthcare provider in High Wycombe is seeking an experienced 8b Consultant Radiographer to enhance their breast imaging services. The role involves advanced practice across multiple modalities, ensuring high-quality patient care and collaboration with surgical teams. The ideal candidate will have significant experience, relevant qualifications, and a commitment to best practices in breast imaging. An opportunity has arisen for an 8b Consultant Radiographer to join our team to support the delivery of an increasing symptomatic breast imaging service and the NHS breast screening programme at Wycombe Hospital.
The post holder will be expected to undertake advanced practice in multiple modalities, demonstrating a high level of knowledge, clinical reasoning, and experience.
The unit diagnoses nearly 600 new breast cancer cases per year, and the radiology team provides timely imaging support for four breast surgeons.
The post-holder will possess the BSc in Radiography or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years of Advanced Practitioner experience in multiple areas of breast imaging.
They will be HCPC registered and hold the Certificate of Competence in Mammography or a Post-graduate Award in Mammography. Additionally, the post-holder will hold postgraduate qualifications in film reading/reporting, interventional techniques, breast ultrasound, and breast examination. Experience as an Advanced Practitioner/Consultant radiographer in the Breast Imaging Service is required. An MSc in advanced mammography practice is preferred.
The post-holder will provide expert care to patients presenting with, or at risk of, breast disease, including assessment and diagnosis. They will exercise professional autonomy in decision-making to improve patient outcomes. They will collaborate with the Breast Imaging Services Manager, Clinical Lead for Breast Imaging, and the Band 8c Consultant Radiographer to develop Breast Services aligned with best practices and regional/national standards.
The post-holder must adhere to the HCPC and Society of Radiographers Code of Conduct, local policies, protocols, and guidelines. They will be involved in clinical supervision and peer review.
The Consultant Radiographer will work autonomously with their caseload, consulting with Radiologists and colleagues on complex cases.
