CYGNET Joyce Parker Hospital in Coventry is seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to provide senior medical cover on Blythe Ward, our 12-bed male PICU.

The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician, leading on patient care, audits and governance within a multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to progress toward Medical Director level.

Qualifications

• Fully GMC registered and MBBS or equivalent.
• Registered on specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC status.
• MRCPsych membership or equivalent is desirable.
• Experience in General Adult Psychiatry and knowledge of the Mental Health Act.

Responsibilities

• Lead high quality care on Blythe Ward.
• Oversee patient treatment plans with the multidisciplinary team.
• Assess referrals and perform mental state examinations.
• Conduct ward rounds, reviews and clinical audits.
• Lead risk assessment and governance processes.
• Support MHA tribunals and liaise with the Ministry of Justice.
• Maintain clear patient records and CPD compliance.

The service supports adults across three wards to move as quickly and safely as possible to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them.This role is based on Blythe Ward, our 12 bed male PICU which accepts emergency and crisis admissions.
